I have a feeling Tony James may be doing the sound on the forthcoming Big Audio Dynamite reunion gigs like he did in the early days.

TJ isn't involved with the BAD tour (as far as I know...)

However, work is still proceeding on Carbon/Silicon stuff. Mick and TJ were recording the guitar parts for a new track earlier this week... and doing some green-screen performance shots in prep for a new video. Obviously, BAD will (rightfully!) get the lion's share of Mick's attention as the dates draw closer - but I would assume that there'll be a fair degree of downtime, since pretty much all of the BAD members are juggling the reunion alongside other projects.

The BAD reunion has been brewing for a good 6 months or so now, so it's not an entirely-unexpected interruption to business in the bunker.

(NB - this is posted with my speculative fan hat on... and not an official band statement or anything!)

I read today that Dreadzone are touring right up to few days before BAD go out. How will this work as far as rehearsing is concerned? Mick spoke of needing a couple of weeks simply for 'pre-production'.

I'm not sure how comfortably Tony's support for a political party that is now declaring that multi-culturalism has failed would sit with being sound-man for BAD.

Pre production for BAD is well underway. There's a lot of work for Davo to do under Mick and Don's direction in terms of getting clean sounds and samples into Pro Tools. Shep is (unofficially) right as well. it's difficult to anticipate exactly how much work the BAD reunion will entail in the end, and whether it will include recording, and how much. But Don has some film work in Australia, Dreadzone has some gigs, and C/S work will continue. I even heard a whisper about a Carbon live date or two between legs of the BAD tour, though time will tell how feasible that is. Dreadzone's dates are not stacked up day after day. BAD will be rehearsing in between before the last push of concentrated work before Liverpool.

Very informative, Teddy. But you've avoided the multi-culturalism issue.

Big Audio Dynamite is British multi-culturalism in a bottle. No?

I thought they weren't looking for 'clean' sounds? Mick said he liked the sound of the old gear.

Yes. But good futzed samples begin with clean ones.

any news on US dates besides Coachella?
i dont want to have to got to a festival to see BAD.
It would seem silly to come all this way to play one show, right?

well i have tickets for the gig at shepherds bush and will be interested in the energy that Mick puts into this project. C/S may be on the backburner but the heat the burner has been turned down to a slow simmer .

I doubt Mick will play this guitar. But I've been wrong before eg BAD playing gigs, C/S playing gigs...

Teddy's not getting drawn into political debate.

Not many original BAD members in action there.
